Freezing Temperature after 25 years

1st day - November 19, 2010

There were a lot of statuses on Facebook; my friends said, "It's snowing!" These made me so much excited. However, it wasn't snowing at our place yet. After a while, the snow came around 10:30 P.M.

I encouraged my sister Cocoon to taste a piece of snow. I guess she tasted it like water. :P

We enjoyed with the snowfalls.

Here we walked on this snow.

2nd day - November 20, 2010

When I woke up, I went out for viewing the snow I loved!

Here is in the front yard.

Here is the back of our house. My brother's car was gone; he went to work.

The baby snowman is there! Is that cute, isn't it?

It was taken through a train window. No more green things.

I went to my friend Lea's house and then we had been waiting for my friend Kathy to pick us up. But she couldn't make it since she was scared of driving on the snow. I bet her area is dangerous for slipping. So I stayed at Lea's place for a party instead of watching an Australian Deaf man's performance. After hours passed by, I couldn't go home because of freezing in the night. I slept over here.

3rd day - November 21, 2010

I woke up so early as Lea's house got colder than our house. Then, Lea's cousin Tess and I dressed up before leaving the house. Wow! The temperature suddenly became so cold and the chill wind was frigging cold! My new jacket, which my mother gave me, didn't make me enough warm. Finally, I came home!

4th day - November 22, 2010

The morning was around -5'c. I was sick of wearing very thick garments! I noticed many students seemed like they hated the very cold. They bought hot chocolate milk and coffees all day. I was chose by the Student's Union of Vancouver Community College to take a video of me and my classmate for U-Pass which we supported for the students. Then, the sunset came around 3:30P.M. I went home by train. It was so crowd; people ran to enter in the train. The chill wind was severely freezing as -10'c to -15 'c. My gosh! I didn't feel my face!

The crowd is in the train.

I am vain, nooooo! lol

5th day - November, 23, 2010

The snow turned into ice already.

My brother brought me to Braid skytrain station. I was waiting for the train to arrive.

After school, I came to Lea's place since she needed my discount card and school ID to be approved in any stores. She would buy clothes.

Here Lea, her cousin Tess, I went out of the house. My face is weird, isn't it? lol

I had been waiting for my sister Veron to buy an Olympic toque for me, so now I bought new one already. Yahoo!

6th day - November 24, 2010

The temperature was still worse, yet good thing that I wore the toque. It made me warm. Many friends said, "Oh! It's CUTE!!!!" lol

7th day - November 25, 2010

It was light snow flurry. It was not bad; however, it was hard for me to walk on the snow.

Weee! Look at my toque!

The snow melted on the floor.

Eventually, It was a bit heavy snowing. I saw many students playing with snowballs. Teachers, too! What a fun day!

Here is between the new building of Vancouver Community College and the parking.

Again, I am vain! nooo! LOL~! :P

The night was boring so I made the snowman. I bet this was the last day of freezing temperature.

The snow slowly melt on November 26, 2010. I couldn't say goodbye to it. I miss the snow more than the freaking cold! hehehe!

Anyway, that terrible temperature in Vancouver was my first time in my life. I thought I was excited, but I realized that the cold was worse. Know guess? I am still looking forward to seeing the snow. I am super crazy, you know. :P

Painting a cat

My second attempt that I painted a cat on the canvas. I bought Leaf Green and Sapphire acrylic paints from Giant Dollar Store.

Here is my procession.

Click this larger photo if you need to see.

The colors of the cat's eyes are so hard for me! I doesn't get used to painting any eyes' colors. :S

The background was changed since gray looks dull or doesn't fit with other bright colors.

I have one blank canvas. I'm looking forward to painting it when I am ready. :)

Faber Castell Colored Pencils

Three weeks ago, I found National Bookstore website which is a store in the Philippines. It is very popular for art supplies, materials, etc. I was so surprised that it is available for shipping. I was excited to ship, but no cards to order.

I emailed my friend, Abbie to purchase Faber Castell Watercolor pencil and classic color pencil for me. On October 10, she came to Vancouver from the Philippines with her mother and then she met me at the airport. After we went to her aunt's apartment, she gave me colored pencils and I paid her already. I thanked to her very much! I haven't owned any art supplies for about 4 years. I didn't want my friends to lend me any supplies because I know it is tiring to borrow and return if they need.

Here is the Faber Castell Watercolor pencil and classic color pencil.

Luckily, these have free sharpers.

This is Watercolour pencils.

This is Classic colour pencils.

This is just the coloring test, adding

I drew original characters on my sketchpad and colored them. Then, I used

"Hiphop Girl"

"Adam"

"Quest Crew"

These paintings look very light and don't have something very dark. That's okay. You know, Painting was very awful to me when I was a kid. Now I'm still improving. :)

Doodle's Life

August 5, 2010

Last night, I started to draw the doodle of leaves around 11:00P.M. until 1:30A.M. After I woke up, I continued to draw it. It was so addicting to me.

It was done! It took about 2 hours. Whoa!

August 7, 2010

It was a bit hard for me to have any concepts about this doodle. There were no pictures of fairyland in my mind, so I googled for images of it. It helped me to imagine and to have ideas. :)

August 11, 2010

A few weeks ago, I looked for different styles of doodles in Google. I found something amazing like this doodle. I've been practicing on drawing seaweeds for a week. Now I am successful! :D

It was began to draw!

DONE! My left hand was exhausting because it took me about four hours to draw!

I edited this doodle on Adobe Photoshop and then I submitted it on Deviantart.

Here are the pens I used.

This red pen case was given me by my friend. Another one ball pen for black ink is not suitable with drawing, but it's okay. I will buy more fine-tip pens as soon as I have work. :)

Final Firework

Last Wednesday, July 28, I couldn't go out with my friend Yiba for watching the firework since I didn't have enough money to pay the fare.

Last night, July 31, I asked my brother for allowance and then he said, "Its 1A.M. already. The banks are closed." He said he will go to bank to withdraw money for me before going to work.

In the morning, I woke up; I thought he must forget to give me allowance so I asked my mom to give it to me.

Going to Elizabeth Park at noon was cancelled because a friend of Lea's cousin was very tired from work.

Around 6:30P.M., we left for English Bay to watch Chinese firework. When we arrived there, we looked for a spot. It was so hard to find! The beach was full of people! Luckily, some people let us to sit on the spot in back of them. After a few minutes, the lightning came! The rain was coming! AAAH!!! However, we got a bit wet. :) The rain was gone after 15-30 minutes.

Unfortunately, the spot was changed. We only sat on the stair. It was too bad! I hated to set my tripod on the stair because of the crowd. :(

Anyway, I'm improving to take pictures of the fireworks. These current pictures are better than before. :)

A Novice As A Farmer

Was it my first time? No, I have been going to Laoag City, Ilocos Norte in the Philippines for almost 20 years. There are a lot of farms. :)

By the way, Lea asked me if I joined her parents for picking blueberries. Then I said Yes! Her parents and her cousin Tess considered about me. They told me that it was very hot weather. I told them, "It's okay. I love it!"

Next early morning, I woke up at 5A.M., but Lea's parents were still sleepy. After 20 minutes, they got up and packed the bags for us. At 6A.M., a bus from Johavol Berries came and we rode in it. Richmond is very far from Lea's house.

I was surprised that friends of Lea's parents joined us.

Finally, we arrived the Johavol Berries which an Indian man owns the farm. It was my first time to see blueberry plants in my life because I thought they were like grape vines, yet they were not!

The weather was chilly. Lea's parents taught me how to harvest blueberries. It was interesting to learn. Harvesting green or red blueberries is prohibited they told me. And then I was ready to work on it~!!!

I carried the pail holding in front of my belly. I harvested and harvested a lot!!! I thought I worked so fast. I had two big pails of berries, but surprisingly, my friends got 3 or 5 pails. What the hell?!? Oh, I worked so slowly! For second time, I got 2 pails and for the last time, I got 3 pails!

After 10 hours, I felt bored of picking berries, so I got the small pail of blueberries for my family. Lea's parents let me take some rest.

Two people, sitting on the pail, are Lea's parents. :)

It is me! Wearing the cap and handkerchief protected me from the sunlight.

After 1 and 1/2 hours passed by, we finally went home at 7P.M.! I was so exhausted! Lea's father asked her for me. She interpreted me what he asked. He asked me if I came to pick again. I shook my head and said NOOOO! He laughed. He told me to give him my card that was how many weights I picked blueberries. It was 119. I am not sure which lbs or kg it was. And then I got paid. :)

A few hours, all my body was in so much pain, especially my hands, so I took medicine.

Explosive Firework!

The Celebration of Light is an event which the fireworks are designed by four different countries.

Last year, I went English Bay to watch wonderful fireworks with my friend Lea, her siblings, and her cousin four times. There were so many people like 50,000 ants! ha ha ha!

This year, for the first firework, I couldn't make it since I was so lazy or couldn't afford to pay the fare, anyway.

Now, finally! We came Granville Island with friends of Lea's cousins. We watched Spanish firework. After it was over, it was so crowd to go home by trains.

Here are the pictures I took using Lea's DSLR.

An Injured Pigeon

This morning, my father was outside of our house, opening the window while I was using my laptop to chat with my friend, Jami. I thought he just gave me some envelopes, but shockingly, he held a pigeon to show through the window. I suddenly stood up near the door and was scared of it as I thought it might bite my fingers if i touched it. He said, "No, it doesn't." Then, I tried to get it from his hand.
Jami took these pictures of my webcam. She said I was funny because I was scared of it and my face looked so frightened!

I was so stuck! We did not have any cages! It took me about 10 minutes to walk around and to look for a box or a basket. Jami told me to get a laundry basket, however; mine is not good for keeping the bird. It is too loose. Finally, I saw another sturdy white basket. I brought it to my room while holding the bird with my right hand. I took all the clothes out of the basket and put it upside down on the floor. I threw the bird into the basket successfully!!!

Here I was feeding the bird. At first, it refused to eat cooked rice. Then, I tried to put raw rice, but the bird still refused. I wondered if it was afraid of me. I added a small amount of bread. The pigeon refused. My father told me to put a small piece of cooked rice in the bird's beak. I did three times. After a few minutes, the bird went back to eat raw rice I was glad. I put a small plate of rice and a small bowl of clean water. WOW! The bird did not stop eating a lot of rice! Oh I know it's harder to look for food outside than people easily buy food in the stores, right? Anyway, my father said the bird cannot fly well.

When I gave the bird to my brother, Kuya Venice. He checked it up. He said it is sick. I was surprised he said it is female. I said him how. He showed me: he pulled the beak with his fingers. If the head doesn't move toughly, it means it is a female. How interesting! He has a lot of experiences!

I put the bird, rice, and water inside the other basket in the garage room. It is night already.

I am looking forward to seeing if the bird will like me after a few days or so. :D
